Thur 18 (Day 1)

Arrival at Cairo airport and transfer to the hotel. We will take a moment to get to know each other and introduce the week.  Dinner at the hotel. 

Fri 19 (Day 2)

Breakfast at the hotel. Visit the Giza plateau, the pyramids and the Sphinx. Visit to the new GEM archeology museum. Return to the hotel at the end of the afternoon. 

Sat 20 (Day 3)

Breakfast at the hotel. Visit to old Cairo and the Saint Serge Church, the so-called 'hanging' church and the oldest synagogue in Egypt. Traditional lunch. Visit to the Coptic Museum. Dinner cruise on the Nile. 

Sun 21 (Day 4)

Breakfast at the hotel. Visit to the Museum of Egyptian Civilization and Royal Mummies. Lunch in Cairo. In the afternoon we have a very moving visit, the church of Saint Simon, a troglodyte church dug into the hill of El Moqqatam, and to get there, we have to cross the rag pickers' district where the most deprived Coptic Christians live. Traditional dinner. 

Mon 22 (Day 5)

Breakfast at the hotel. Visit to the Matareya garden where the tree of the Blessed Virgin is still located. Visit the Ain Shams site where the largest pharaonic temple of antiquity existed.  Lunch near the Nile. Visit the church of El Maadi on the bank of the Nile which was built around the well from which the Holy Familly drew water. Dinner at the hotel. 

Tue 23 (Day 6)

Breakfast at the hotel. Departure from the hotel with our suitcases. We will take the desert road to go to the region of the Coptic monasteries of Wadi Natrun (4th – 7th century). We will arrive in Anafora in the afternoon, a Coptic community created in an oasis, a haven of peace and prayer. Dinner and night in Anafora. 

Wed 24 (Day 7)

We will spend this day in Anafora. We will be able to attend Coptic religious services and participate in moments of meditation. Dinner and night in Anafora. 

Thur 25 (day 8)

Breakfast in Anafora. We will leave for the Fayoum oasis. Lunch in a traditional restaurant. We will spend a night in the desert in a Bedouin tent with a magnificent view of a lake. Starry sky…amazing guaranteed! Night in the tent. 

Fri 26 (Day 9)

Departure after a traditional breakfast. Visit the Deir el-Durunka monastery built around the cave which sheltered the Holy Family during the Nile floods. Night at the hotel in Assiout. 

Sat 27 (Day 10)

Visit the 4th century Deir el-Muharraq monastery, dedicated to the Virgin Mary. This place is located exactly in the geographical center of the country. The church is built around a square table, which became the altar of the church because this table was blessed by the child Jesus. The existence of this church was prophesied in Isaiah 19:19 “At this same time there will be an altar to the Lord in the middle of the land of Egypt. » We continue our journey in the footsteps of the Holy Family to discover the 4th century church of Gabal el-Tayr (the mountain of birds), built around a cave where the Virgin Mary rested with her child. Night at Minya hotel. 

Sun 28 (Day 11)

We will take the road north again, arriving at Heliopolis in the afternoon. Weather permitting, it will be possible to do some shopping in the center of Heliopolis. Dinner at the hotel. Night at the hotel. 

Mon 29 (day 12)

Transfer to the airport for your return flight.
